Quite possibly our last little taste of winter (fingers crossed) and I can’t think of a better way to usher out Old Man Winter than with little Miss Raya, at 9 months, in her little winter hat.  Raya’s mom always brings along the cutest things, and I love how it shows off that last little bit of chubby baby goodness….the little crease at the wrist, the dimples near the elbow.  It’s at this age they being to grow taller and all that other starts to fade, but now never forgotten.

Shawna- Raya did SUCH a great job yesterday, so smiley too!  Hooray for Puffs and peekaboo!

Sometimes there just aren’t words to describe something so dear, so precious, so….miraculous.  Meet 6 month old baby Landry, she sums up all three.  On top of that she is one beautiful baby and I am a huge sucker for an adorable side glance like this one; I’m pretty sure it was grandma she had eyes for over there.  Landry’s mom brought along all kinds of goodies to play with, which we didn’t even make a dent in, something to look forward to next time maybe?  But I immediately fell in love with the bunny ears, too stinkin cute and I love how her little piggies are peeking out there, love.

Ami- Thank you so much for bringing Landry, it was nice to meet your mom too.  I had such a fun time with her today and absolutely loved everything you brought along, although I think she could have sat there with nothing at all and been just as beautiful.

Ami Aikey - These are incredible! You have such a wonderful talent! I had no doubt in my mind they wouldn't be great, but these are priceless and so very precious of our miracle girl! Thank you for the great time and for being so patient; you are the best!

Off The Beaten Path, Modern Imaging At Play

I hesitated posting this, for his sake.  Probably not exactly the type of “babes” he’d like to be surrounded by!  But this is mostly for his mom who contacted me before the snow even flew this past year, expressing her vision of how she’d like to remember her son his senior year.  I hesitate to say senior pictures because I won’t do them in the traditional sense, so kindly, no phone calls please (I say that in the nicest way possible).  But I loved how she said it to me best, and hope she won’t mind if I quote her; “Connor is just a boy, with a bow, dog and a truck”.  No frills, no fuss, just….him.

Connor, thanks so much for being such a gentleman and helping me through the snow today.  I can honestly say, even though I thoroughly trusted you, I don’t think I could ever do the arrow shot again now that I have let my mind wonder to the dark side, HA!

Sarah - Oh wow!!! I love the ones with the dog (naturally). I just wrapped my mind around the arrow one, eeks!!! VERY cool photos!

Finally getting caught up.  I might start to get a little out of blogging order, but concentrating on getting as many galleries up as I can before we close for spring break.  Don’t be surprised if the blog gets a little neglected over the next few weeks or happens to feature a few of my own, so excited.  Now to this sweet baby girl, Morgan at 3 months old.  Last week I went to see her and capture a few at home.  Her daddy has very impressively made her furniture for her nursery, including this cradle, so glad we captured her in it before she can no longer fit.  Morgan’s eyes are one of the first things you notice when you look at her, even in person, so striking.  She even gave me a few sweet little smiles.

Kevin and Andi- Thank you so much, Morgan did great!  I look forward to each new session with her.

Terri Jeffries - She has beautiful blue eyes....what a cutie!

How many of us can say we wake up with a smile on our face?  This guy can!  We literally woke this sleeping baby up, 9 month old Thomas, for his session, but he didn’t seem to mind and had plenty of smiles to share.  Thomas came to see me right before Christmas this past year, and has learned lots since I saw him last.  He was extremely interested in who was holding up the big black box (me), and was definitely faster than both mom and me were.  But we managed to wrangle him for a few before he let us know it was time for lunch.  Love the intense concentration, tongue sticking out, trying to turn these pages….

: : Baby Nolan : : Modern Baby Imaging

A little behind on blogging this week, so I stole a few minutes this weekend to post Baby Nolan who came to see me this past week.  I don’t know how much longer I can get away with calling him baby Nolan, he is quickly moving into toddler mode.  I’m so excited everyone is loving the hi key/simple white on white as much as I do, lots of requests.  I love how it shows off all his features; gorgeous blues eyes, long lashes, beautiful soft skin, pink lips and look at all those teeth in there, love!  Thank you little guy for sharing a few tosses of the ball with me.  I also wanted to steal a few minutes to remind everyone that I will be gone March 12-22nd.  I will not be answering the phone or emails during this time.  Voice mails and emails will be returned upon my return as quickly as I can get through them.  Also, I have a couple of days open the last two weeks of March, so if you’re thinking about booking for the month of March, now is the time.  April and May are quickly filling up too, so just a heads up to book early.

Carrie- It was so nice to see you again, and Nolan.  So glad we got to capture him before he starts running from us!  Beautiful baby boy.

carrie metz - Thank you Darcy! This is why we all love you and your work. You capture those moments we want etched in our minds forever.

Sweet 6 month old baby Ryland, happy as one can be, I kid you not.  This little guy was bursting with smiles from the word go, and those eyes, they just sparkled with every grin…especially for his Grandma.  This age is hands down one of my favorites, if you follow the blog, you already know that, but it’s so true whether I’m photographing them or not!  And just look at all the goodies they brought along, love.  Styling a boy for photos isn’t always easy due to the lack of availability, but they nailed it.  Soft, simple….beautiful, just like him.

Lexi- It was pleasure meeting you, your mother-in-law and especially little Ryland.  You can truly see just how much he is loved, such a happy, happy baby!

admin - He is, and I bet he has all kinds of smiles for his Nana too!

Nana - Isn't he the most beautiful baby in the whole world!!

: : Marigold May : : At Play Modern Baby Imaging

Her name alone warms me, that little face just makes me melt.   Meet 7 week old Marigold May.  Marigold came to me upon a referral from our awesome neighbors the Edwards.  We have a ton of awesome neighbors actually, who I miss seeing because we’re all holed up for the winter, but it won’t be long now.  Marigold was so patient with me and gave me just enough in between binky breaks to capture her sweet little spirit.  I look forward to watching this one grow.

Thanks so much Chris and Angie for making the trip, I think that was the first time I’ve had a chance to talk to Jodi in months!  Congratulations on your beautiful baby.

heather - Marigold is a sweetie, precious photos!

Krissy - Beautiful!

: : Baby Carlie and Family : : Modern Baby Imaging, At Home

One of the biggest rewards for me as a photographer is capturing an emotion, unscripted, purely in the moment expression.  This usually involves 1/4 knowledge, 3/4 being in the right place at the right time, pure luck.  Today I was very lucky.  Meet beautiful baby Carlie, nearly two weeks old, her big brother 2 year old Gaige, mom and dad.  Carlie was another dream baby, gorgeous, she was so good to me and we got lots of just, her.  What I wasn’t anticipating was getting him and her, together.  I’m pretty familiar with 2 year olds, raised 3 of them, if I know one thing, they don’t sit for very long.  Gaige on the other hand was ready and willing, my little helper for the day.  When it came time to take some with his baby, he was game and even more so when mom and dad jumped in.  I thought I had seen a quick glimpse of this look of awe on his face in my view finder after I took it?….Today was my lucky day.  On a side note, people ask me quite often if I take family pictures and the answer is yes, but only like this….

blogfile4

Abby, Andy and Gaige (and grandma), thank you, thank you.  What an enjoyable session, beautiful baby girl, beautiful boy.

Abby - Darcy-We had such a good time today. I LOVE the pictures. The look on Gaige's face in the first one is perfect! Thank you!!!

: : Sweet Baby Addyson : : Modern Baby Imaging, At Home

Today I headed to Urbana to spend my morning with the Sweeney girls.  Baby Addyson made her debut just shy of two weeks ago, and big sisters are already completely smitten with her, and who wouldn’t be, she’s simply beautiful.  This little angel was so so easy, hardly fussed, actually I don’t recall hearing even a squawk!  And such an alert baby, following me with her eyes and dare I say she even smiled for me too!  Okay, well maybe that was just luck, but I’ll take it!  She seemed to be already settling in to her very busy home with her two older sisters who, by the way, were such big helpers today; dressed in their best, thank you girls!

blogfile4

Jennifer- Thank you so much for having me out today, what a perfect way to spend my morning, I’m thrilled with what we got today.  Addyson is a little dream baby, beautiful…..and Avery and Alivia were such good listeners and are great little mommies!

Jenny Sweeney - Darcy, Love the pictures, precious!! What a fun morning! Can't wait to share these pictures with family and friends. Thank you so much! Jenny
